The fast-growing tree reaches a height of 5 to 8 m in the first year of life. A young tree in East Africa and India grows up to 8 m high per year under natural conditions if not pruned. The root is thickened like beetroot, the trunk is relatively short with a diameter of up to 25-40 cm. Under certain growing conditions, it can thicken like a bottle. It branches into many protruding, thinner, slightly drooping branches.
